Final 3 Chunk Paragraph

As a final assessment for this unit, you will write a two or three chunk paragraph that answers the essential question:

What does it take to be comfortable with one’s own identity?

In order to answer this question, you will need to consider all of the short stories we read. You should use the graphic organizer that you made on Tuesday to help you come up with an overall answer to the question.

v  3 chunks will get you an A on that bullet point of the rubric

v  2 chunks will get you an B on that bullet point of the rubric

v  Concrete details MUST be quotes from the stories

v  Don’t forget quote introductions and text notes

v  Don’t say “This quote says” or anything that mentions “the quote”.

v  Make sure your analysis explains how your CD’s prove your topic sentence

v  Final draft must be typed, skip lines between each part

CD1: Use a quote from any of the stories that gives an example of a character learning to accept their identity by the reason you stated in your first part of your TS. Don’t forget to intro the quote and text note it!

AP1a: Explain how your quote proves that this person became comfortable with their identity by the reason you stated in your TS.

AP1b: Go further in explaining how this quote shows that many people become comfortable by using the strategy you stated in your TS.

CD2: Use a quote from any of the stories that gives an example of a character learning to accept their identity by the reason you stated in your second part of your TS. Don’t forget to intro the quote and text note it!

AP2a: Explain how your quote proves that this person became comfortable with their identity by the reason you stated in your TS.

AP2b: Go further in explaining how this quote shows that many people become comfortable by using the strategy you stated in your TS.

CD3: If you choose to include a third CD, it should match one part of your TS. Choose a different character from a different story who learns to accept their identity by one of the reasons you stated. Make sure you have this chunk follow the first chunk you wrote about that reason!
